Plan ahead to be a survivor, not a victim, of a disaster. By preparing today, you are also helping our first responders save lives and property in the event of an emergency.

Because we know that natural and man-made disasters can happen suddenly and at any time, these links provide you with information about the importance of planning and preparedness.

Before an Emergency

It is critical that everyone is prepared for an emergency. In the event of a large-scale emergency, first responders may not be able to immediately assist you or your family. It is your responsibility to prepare yourself.

  • Make a plan
  • Make sure everyone in the family knows the plan
  • Be trained in first aid
  • Have an emergency supply kit
  • Be informed about the kinds of emergencies that may occur in our area
  • Volunteer in your community

During an Emergency

When an emergency occurs, things may be chaotic. It is in your best interest to be prepared for any emergency. When an emergency occurs, it is your responsibility to:

  • Pay attention to local media and authorities for special announcements and instructions
  • Review your plan with your family members
  • Have your emergency supply kits ready for possible use
  • Make sure your contact person knows your status and where you are going
  • Be ready to take appropriate protective actions

Be prepared before the need arises.
